Frequently asked questions

Everything people usually ask about formats, quality, privacy and what this tool can and cannot do.

Is the tool free?

Yes. It is free to use and supported by advertising. There is no account, no trial and no download limit for thumbnails.

Which links are supported?

Standard dailymotion.com/video links, embed links, player links and short dai.ly links. You can also paste a bare video ID.

Which qualities can I see?

Every rendition the upload publishes, typically from 144p up to 1080p, with resolution, codec, bitrate and an estimated file size for each.

Can I save the video file itself?

Dailymotion serves video and audio through signed, player-locked streams. This tool reports the formats and links you to the official player rather than copying protected files. Thumbnail images are public and download instantly.

What image sizes are available?

Whatever the video publishes, usually 60, 120, 180, 240, 360, 480, 720 and 1080 pixel heights, saved as original JPEGs.

Do you store my links or files?

No. Links are used to build your results and are not saved to a database. Your theme preference stays in your own browser.

Why did my link fail?

Private, password-protected, geo-restricted and deleted videos cannot be read. Double-check the link and try again.

Is downloading legal?

It depends on the content and where you live. Only save material you own, that is licensed to you, or whose use is otherwise permitted. See our Terms & Conditions.
